In October 2006 we decided to move to Southern Ireland where all the dogs have a lot more space to run free & enjoy life ! `We are members of the A little About Confucian Shar Pei Back in 1988 I happened to see a TV advert for dog food with the punch line " Does the vet do facelifts ? ".......I had seen my first Shar Pei ! Having both had the company of dogs for most of our lives me with English Springer Spaniels ( & now Bracco Italiano ) Mick with Minature Poodles & Afghan Hounds we were both fascinated by this wrinkled charmer, although Mick did repeatedly say " No " when I nagged & nagged for a Shar Pei of my own, After being fooled into going to Crufts on the pretence of seeing the E.S.S. he finally relented & we joined the S.P.C.G.B , during the Spring of 1989 we adopted "Frankie", maybe not the most handsome of dogs but a wonderful character nevertheless marking the start of our venture into the world of Shar Pei ! From there we bought our first bitch " Rosie " together she & Mick learned the highs & lows of life in the show ring, since those early day's we have imported two bitches from Jill Parslow's US Chesapeake kennel the first in early 1994 who was Chesapeakes Rare Commodity for Confucian AKA "Modie" one of Modie's daughter's Josie was Best Puppy at Crufts 1998 & the first Shar Pei Bitch in the UK to receive her Stud Book Number at Crufts 1999, then 10 years later in March 2005 Chesapeakes You're So Vain at Confucian " Carly " arrived to join the gang..... Our two American males are "Mikey" Am Ch Royals My Kinda Guy bred by Sue & Roy Anderson who was Grand Futurity winner & Best Puppy at the Shar Pei Nationals in 1996, " ZZ" pronounced ZeeZee. Am Ch Chesapeake's Sharp-Dressed Man at Confucian who gained his title at 9 1/2 months of age joined the rest of the Confucian crew via Pet Passport in October 2003....we normally breed one or two litters a year are currently owned by 10 Pei who are first & foremost family members. Even though we show our dogs our primary aim is to do our best to breed for excellent health & temperament, In 1995 we published our first web site Mick also created the very first Shar Pei mailing list " CHIS-L ",Cathy & Mick Cooper (Confucian Shar Pei)Skype :- Confuciansp All photographs, information in this site are copyright of Mick & Cathy Cooper please ask permission before using any of this material. |
